What the hell? Maybe John Hodgman should bring this up in the next Mac vs. PC commercial. And is Mac falling behind? … Hmmm.

Quentin: ‘Kill Bill 3′ is coming
So Tarantino is ready to do the third installment of the ‘Kill Bill’ series? I can’t wait. It is supposed to be 10 years in the future. Not much info in the article posted on the RZA’s blog, but it just got me really pumped for more Quentin.
Optimus Prime will return for a third go-round
It’s official: the Autobots will roll out for another ‘Transformers’ flick.
And yes – Megan Fox will be back, despite her best efforts to alienate herself from Bay and the entire ‘Transformers’ crew.
News of another robot sequel shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone: “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” has raked in more than $400 million, is the current reigning king of the box office for 2009 and is just behind “Spider-Man” as the ninth highest-grossing film of all-time.
Rebooted ‘Elm Street’ teaser trailer released
In keeping with the theory that ‘every film property must be rebooted,’ here’s the first look at the new ‘Nightmare on Elm Street‘ produced by the master of disaster himself, Michael Bay (‘Armageddon’ and ‘Transformers’).
While the trailer itself looks interesting, the casting of Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger is the most promising aspect of the new ‘Nightmare.’ Haley played Rorschach in ‘Watchmen‘ and has a role in the upcoming Martin Scorsese flick ‘Shutter Island.’
But boy, portraying a horror icon like Freddy Krueger is a long way from playing a chain-smoking Little Leaguer.
‘G-Force’ goes Blu
Jerry Bruckheimer’s first foray into children’s CGI movies will hit store shelves in time for the holidays.
Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment will release ‘G-Force’ on DVD and Blu-ray on Dec. 15, 2009. The Blu-ray edition will also include a DVD and digital copy, while the DVD edition will also include a digital copy.
Plot: A specially trained squad of guinea pigs (voiced by Sam Rockwell, Penelope Cruz, Tracy Morgan and Nicolas Cage) is dispatched to stop a diabolical billionaire from taking over the world. Will Arnett, Bill Nighy, Zach Galifianakis and Jon Favreau co-star.
Special features for this release include:
- Audio Commentary with director Hoyt H. Yeatman, Jr.
- Blasters Boot Camp—Blaster (Tracy Morgan) gives viewers a high-energy, high-tech orientation into the elite world of the G-Force.
- G-Force Mastermind—Hollywood legend Jerry Bruckheimer and CG effects whiz Hoyt H. Yeatman, Jr. reveal the inspiration for this exciting adventure.

- Three Music Videos: “Jump” by Flo Rida featuring Nelly Furtado, “Ready To Rock” by Steve Rushton and “Go G-Force”

CNET picks 30 ‘must own’ Blu-rays
CNET has recently picked its ‘Top 30 must-have Blu-ray Discs,’ and includes great picks like ‘Baraka,’ ‘Sleeping Beauty,’ ‘Braveheart’ and (of course) ‘The Dark Knight.’
But the CNET list also includes odd picks, such as ‘Bolt’ and ‘Horton Hears a Who.’ It doesn’t really matter how great something like ‘Bolt’ looks on an 46-inch HDTV — something as generally lame as ‘Bolt’ or ‘Horton’ isn’t a ‘must-have Blu-ray’ if you’re buying eye candy and not a genuinely great movie. Even ‘Fast & Furious’ has some great HD moments but it’s by no means a ‘must own’ BD just because it looks pretty on a 1080p LCD.
That being said, if you were (for some reason) a huge ‘Horton Hears a Who’ fan, then you must own the BD version. Sometimes the gap between DVD and Blu-ray isn’t that significant — like in the case of ‘Rachel Getting Married’ or ‘The Wrestler.’ This happens when the original film stock just is not high-quality or the cinematography has a more documentary look to it.
But buying the DVD version of ‘Baraka’ or ‘The Dark Knight’ today, instead of the Blu-ray version, is absolutely ridiculous. Some films should only be viewed in HD if at all possible.
Do you have any ‘must own’ Blu-ray picks?
